The Bugatti EB110 GT chassis
GT049 was ordered in Blu Bugatti, with the standard dual tone greys interior. It was used first by the factory as press car for Italy. One element distinguishes the GT049 from the rest of the EB110 GT production, it is the one and only GT with a new type of panel between the 2 rear lights, produced during the activity of Bugatti Automobili. This panel is equipped with the Bugatti crest in the center, inducing a reduction in the size of the adjacent air holes. After being tested by the italian press, the GT049 was used by the factory to develop a bicarburation project, with a gasoline/methane dual fuel system developped in collaboration with Bugatti Electronics and Florgas. In 1994, the 'Greengas' car signed a new speed record with Loris Bicocchi at Nardo, with a top speed of 344.7 km/h. The GT049 was then used only for promotional purpose, for press and motorshows.
The car was then exported to the USA. |
