Le Mans Classic 2008 : the race cars

My report of the Le mans Classic 2008 edition, a particularly crazy event. Why crazy? Because when you have more than 3000 collectibles cars in one place, with at the same time races where the most prestigious cars ever made for competition were engaged, when you don't have enough time to see everything during 3 days (!), I think we can describe it as pure madness....

I have made more than 2200 pictures during these 3 days, so I will make different topics... the editing job is really tremendous. So, in this "Events" topic, I'm going to show the cars engaged in the competition, separated in differents groups, corresponding to the cars' production years. No pics from the track, I was really short in time and I focus myself more on the tourism cars present in the "Club area" this year.

The first group was composed with cars from 1920 to 1940, such as Bugatti (T35, T37 or T43), Bentley Le Mans, BMW 328 roadster or a car I love especially, the Invicta S Type.

The Second group is composed with 50's cars. Surprisingly, I have seen the whole part of each races groups (except the group N°6 because they didn't go through the public area) but very few from this group 2.

Group three concerns cars from 1955 to 1965 : Jaguar Lister, Aston Martin DBR1 and DB4 GT, Ferrari 250 GT Short Wheel Base, Porsche 550 or Jaguar D Type.

The group four was composed with cars from 1965 to 1971, with Le Mans legendary models such as the Ford GT40, Ferrari 275 GTB, Alfa Romeo TZ2, Iso Bizzarini 5300, AC Cobra or Ferrari 250 GT Breadvan.

The most impressive group was the fifth one, corresponding to the Golden Age of the 24 Hours of Le Mans races, from the mid 60's to the mid 70's : Porsche 917, Ferrari 512 S, Ford GT40, Ferrari 330 P3 or Lola T70.

The Group VI was composed of eighties' cars such as Ferrari BB512 LM or BMW M1 Procar for example. Unfortunately, these cars were only present in the paddocks or on the track, so I've got very few pics this year. A good idea of this group can be see in my report of the 2006 edition.

And in order to finish in beauty, a small exhibition of some legendary cars of the Le Mans 24 hours (Ferrari 250 GTO, Ford GT40, Porsche 962..) : The Le Mans Heritage. Others Le Mans competition cars were presented around the paddock, with Peugeot, Audi and Porsche (with a duo 911 GT1 '98 and 962).
