Rétromobile 2020

As usual, the classic motorshow Rétromobile is the culminating point of the "Classic Car Week", which takes place in Paris in February. It was a very special edition for me because for the first time, I was not only a spectator but I was also, in a way, an exhibitor. Indeed, I have the chance to participate in the writing of a book, which I hope will make history, on the Bugatti EB110 and its racing derivatives. For the occasion and to announce the book's future release, an exceptional stand has been designed, featuring the Bugatti EB110 Le Mans and Sport Competizione. A great moment!
But I am and always will be a great eclectic automobile enthusiast, and I cannot resist the urge to report on this exceptional 2020 exhibition, which once again places Retromobile at the top of the world's classic car shows.

The 2020 edition features a huge retrospective of Alfa Romeos on the Lukas Huni stand (Bimotore, Tipo B P3...) as well as a very original and interesting chronology of the famous Czech brand Tatra. This year, the Lamborghini Miura was once again in the spotlight with a dozen models on display, including the famous SVJ of the German race car driver Hubert Hahn. The official Bugatti display focused on genealogy with a triptych belonging to the same collector: Type 35, Bugatti EB110 Supersport (a model finished by Dauer), and Veyron Grand Sport (the last Veyron produced). Two models of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato (out of 19) were presented and as far as the sellers are concerned, Girardo is now a must at the show, with an increasingly large and incredible stand, with this year a line up of Italian supercars: Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo (grigio alloy) and Maserati MC12 Corsa. The legendary Ferraris were also present: 330 P4, 312 P, 250 MM, 275 GTB6C, 250 GT Pininfarina Series 1 to name but a few. An unmissable retrospective was also organized by Maserati, with the whole range of the Golden Age represented. Moreover, by a happy coincidence of this edition, the 2 styling proposals provided by Touring and Vignale for the convertible version of the Maserati 3500 GT were gathered under the same roof. Vignale won the contract, but the Touring prototype looked great. The construction costs of the Superleggerra process were to its disadvantage. Difficult to make the tour of the stars of this edition but in bulk, I can quote the incredible Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring, the superb Mc Laren set, including 4 F1 (F1 GTR Long Tail, 2 F1 GTR and a road F1) and a M6GT, my first Nissan R390 GT1, a splendid Iso Grifo convertible, the exuberant Pegaso Z103 Saoutchik and one as beautiful as well hidden in a corner of the show, a Facel Vega Excellence, all dressed in white, which made it rather graceful. Finally, a special exhibition was dedicated to Bertone, with concept cars that are always a pleasure to see or rediscover, such as the Corvette Ramarro or the Lamborghini Genesis.
