While most of the Supersport on chain were stopped, a group of cars were finished between the end of 1994 and 1995. What they have in common was that they are neither US nor European versions. Only the cars for the special specification markets were able to escape the lack of parts. However, it is likely that the parts for the interior came from the development cars of Reparto Esperienza, which served as a parts bank.

The Bugatti EB110 Supersport chassis SS40 was not completed during the Bugatti Automobili activity and remained at the factory until it was sold in its current state, at the 1997 auction. The car was ordered in Grigio Chiaro Met but the interior trim was never completed. All the mechanical elements were mounted, including a Supersport engine. On some internal documents, it seems the car was intended to the US market, but none elements seems to confirm it, because the definition and the chassis number of the car were european ones at the moment of the auction. The state of progress of the SS40 at the time of the closure of the factory is difficult to define, nothing prevents that the structure "Bugatti Fallimento" has tried to finish the car for the auction of 1997. The car was equipped in 1997 with the rear panel, between the 2 headlights, with the Bugatti logo in the center, without confirmation that this one was in place during the initial assembly.
The SS40 was bought at the auction by B-Engineering that has completed the car in the following years. The SS40 was sold in Italy where it remained during a very long time, licensed in Italy. The car was offered for sale by Girardo & Co and was sold in the USA.
